Inscription on title-page, surrounding printer’s device, in a 16th-century hand: "Humf. Halle"; the same hand appears to write the motto, date, and price? at head of title-page: "In vtraq[ue] fortuna fides. 1560 No. 28° iiij [...]". Probably the Humfry Hall recorded in Foster, Alumni Oxoniensis: "Humfry Hall, fellow of All Souls’ Coll., B.A. 9 Dec., 1554, M.A. 17 March, 1558-9, B.Med. (sup. 24 April), 1561, D.Med. of Pavia, sup. 14 July, 1567, to have same degree at Oxford, proctor 1561." Inscription on title-page, in a 16th?-century hand: "Tho Browne 3s..." Motto at head of title-page, with date and perhaps a price: Inscription on title-page: "Jo. Smith. Mar. 30. 608. Sarisburghien[sis?]" (i.e. John Smith, 30 March, 1608. This is perhaps John Smith, nephew of Richard Smith the founder of Lincoln Christ’s Hospital School, who practised medicine in London 1591-1620.)
